Test your web design in different browsers

Browsershots

Do you remember back in the old days when you were developing a site and how difficult it was to test your design? I used to send out e-mails to everybody and pray that my design worked in all of their browsers… And if not, we were sending e-mails back and forward till it finally worked. Luckily those days are now over!

I just stumbled upon browsershots, a great site where you just add the URL of your developing site, submit it and voila! your job will be added to the job queue where a number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser to create screenshots and upload them to the central server. All you have to do is to reload the very same page.

Was fiddling around with CSS the other day and had some minor problems, submitted the URL to browsershots and had a whole bunch of screenshots in less than 5 min! Saved me a lot of time and it’s great to be 100% sure that your site is working in all browsers and on all platforms.

How much is your blog worth?

My blog is worth $564.54.
How much is your blog worth?

Inspired by Tristan Louis’s research into the value
of each link to Weblogs Inc, here is a little applet
using Technorati’s API which computes and displays your blog’s worth using the same link to dollar ratio as the AOL-Weblogs Inc deal.

Just enter your blog URL to see how much it’s "worth" using the Weblogs/AOL math.

Half a year ago my blog was worth nothing at all, but now it is worth $564.54. Ooooooh! Well, at least an improvement…

Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us

Everybody is talking about Web 2 these days, but many people do not know what on earth this really is. Below is a very informative video created by professor Michael Wesch. He managed to tell the whole story in just under 5 minutes and it is definitely worth the watch. Only thing he maybe forgot to mention when he says that XML was created to separate form from content, is that CSS enables the same effect with HTML.

But here is your chance to upgrade your web knowledge!
