Elizabeth’s Paper Doll Princess
Another drawing from my 5-year old daughter, Elizabeth. The characters she is drawing always have such funny faces, like this princess! Cute sweater don’t you think?

Just annoying when you have to carry around all these plastic cards with all similar fugg designs. If you have several of these cards and keep them on the same place, you need to search to find the right one, or you mistakenly pick the wrong one like I have done oh so many times.
I never use a purse or a bag, only when I have to bring my laptop around. I just put everything I need in my pocket. Keys, plastic cards, money, tickets, paper, you name it. Sometimes I have so much stuff in my pocket that it hurts when I sit down. When I put everything on the table I can be amazed over how much that actually fit in them.
I forgot my credit card in my back pocket and broke it in two when searching for that ultimate comfortable sofa position and needed to get a new one. Ordered and designed my own card after seeing my man receiving his.
All I wanted was to have a pleasant image to watch every time I suck my card for money. The background photo is from a trip with Hurtigruta from Finnsnes to Tromsø (north of Norway) with some imaginary Illustrator birdies circling around looking for some of that great Norwegian cod.

Was back in the north of Norway where I had the pleasure of checking out the pub Inferno. I was very curious to go there since I made the logo for them last summer when they opened up shop. Pleasantly surprised to see the big ass sign outside of the pub and that the people working there were all wearing black T-shirts with mine and the Mack beer logo on it. Got myself one which I happily am wearing back in Amsterdam.
Had a jolly good time, meeting loads of friends from when I was living there, top of the cake was to see Elements, a local band playing only Deep Purple songs. Was singing on ‘Smoke on the Water’ for 3 days afterwards, tune was just got stuck in my head.
So if you are looking for a job in exotic Finnsnes, Inferno is hiring people! (I had nothing to do with the site, made by a local chickie)

Now, finally managed to finish off the ReBirth website.
I started with collecting the portfolio pieces in PhotoShop, making one long horizontal layer which I later imported into Flash where I wrote an ActionScript to follow the mouse scrolling the masked layer to the left and right instead of using the typical horizontal scrollbar. When all the portfolio movies were done, I made one main movie which loads/unloads all the respective movies.
To hang it all together, I was searching a bit before stumbling over the oh so fabulous Mootools. It’s basically a whole bunch of different JavaScripts you can choose from a library. The advantage with that is that since it’s JavaScript the file almost weights nothing and it’s read by all browsers and all systems. No plug-ins needed, no hassle involved.
Wanted the site to be as user friendly as possible and at the same time playful, and the Mootools were just a perfect choice for that. Everything is condensed into one page, with the Flash portfolio on top, then some info about us, a table with all of our clients completely stylized in CSS, followed by an Ajax contact form where I had to add a JavaScript validation in Dreamweaver.
What more? Oh ja, a script that randomly changes one of my 3 background images onLoad, very OldSchool. Still have a few minor changes to do but at least it’s now up there and live!

I’ve had a very productive week and I am happy to see that my work went live today! Nothing like the exciting feeling of a launch!
First banner is for Shell Pernis which is one of the biggest oil refineries in the world. The materials made at Pernis are used by customers to manufacture many everyday products including car parts, foam seating and bedding, paints, cooling fluids, pharmaceuticals and petrol.

Second banner is for Shell Moerdijk, which is a specialized division for chemicals. The products made at Moerdijk are used by customers to manufacture many everyday products, such as car components, synthetic fibres, insulation materials, latex paints and anti-freeze.

It was a true pleasure making these banners, specially because I had the luxury problem of choosing from hundreds of really superb photos. And also they just liked everything I did and you just have to love clients like that. Everything went smooth and I am happy with the result!
Have a look and click on the banners to see them live on Shell’s website!

On this very day - 04.04.07 I registered ReBirth Media here in Amsterdam at Kamer van Koophandel (picture). Now that felt good! Finally everything is official and I can start doing business the way business is supposed to be made. Feel very upbeat and ready to take on the world! So cheers for me and my brand new company!

The printer is working just fine so here is a drawing my 4 year old daughter made.
She is starting to draw more than just simple line drawings and is paying attention to small details like teeth. Oh, and the dots in the hair are of course diamonds…

Yes! nothing is like getting a new gadget, this time I bought myself a HP OfficeJet 7210 All-In-One InkJet Printer. And it works for me and my small business! I am so happy with it, soon I’ll print my first business cards, and scan in all of my daughters drawings. I will post some of her funny drawings here since I think she draws really good. Didn’t even test the scanner yet, just made some prints and tested the fax. Nice with so many gadgets in one!

Here is the final version of the logo I made for King Systems. They wanted a corporate and a more up to date version of what they already had (you can see the old logo here).

I know, SHOCK! an update! Been so busy and have been multi tasking between so many project the last months. Busy on loooooong, time consuming project, so nothing really to blog about until we go live, which is soon! I have also decided to dedicate more of my time to this blog, so I will be posting more frequently from now on, promise!
This week I have been busy with a few projects including making a logo for my brother’s company in Norway, www.kingsystems.no. I just showed him my proposals which of course are confidential, but he definitely did not want to use my viking, which was one of the icons I made. I thought my viking was really cute and was drifting away when choosing what to make out of it, I just felt like he needed to come to life, and here he is. At least he could live here in CyberSpace, have a life here on my blog.
And since he was dissed as logo and as Harald HÃ¥rfagre, I now rename him “Erik The Viking”, King of ReBirth! Long live the king!

Just updated to Illustrator CS after years of being stuck in version 5.5. So I am having a ball here with all the new features! No more toggle between Photoshop, I now have transparency! And all the filters and effects! Feel like a kid in a candy store again, it is just really fun to play with.
My alien ghost here seen in the dark woods of planet Zorg, far away in another galaxy, origins from the Effect Arc species.
And like Adam and Eve was created from a rib, my alien was created by only one line (duplicated) from the line tool.
In a later post I will show you how to make one, as I am planning to make my own tutorials as soon as I am done designing and modifying my brand new blog.

Was just playing around in Flash with a 3D Flower tutorial. Got these nice photo’s sent to me by my friend Marina in Italy, photo’s from her and BF Ale on vacation on Sardinia. They were just oozing of love and hotness, so I found that spinning flower suiting that loving feeling. Aren’t they cute? Click on the image to see the Flash movie and click anywhere on the image to generate the 3D Flower.

I am so excited, the new blog is up and running! I will now say goodbye to the one I had at blogger.com and concentrate on this one. Just need to design a nice background and we’re all set to go. So stay tuned…
